To introduce international protocols and best practices in cardiac catheterization and cardiovascular care.

Key Activities and Topics Covered:
The conference was attended by a wide range of cardiology specialists and surgeons from within Rojava and external guests from the Kurdistan Region. Key thematic areas included:
Modern techniques in cardiac catheterization
Diagnosis and management of prevalent cardiac diseases
Review of international cardiology treatment protocols
Impact of stress, environmental factors, and socioeconomic conditions on heart health in conflict-affected regions
The event also provided a platform for presenting clinical case studies, fostering open discussions about local challenges in cardiac care, and identifying collaborative solutions.

- Second Conference on Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery

Date: 2022-09-16

Place: Qamishlo

Objective:
To convene the second specialized medical conference focused on cardiology and cardiac surgery, featuring expert-led discussions on the latest developments in the field. Particular emphasis was placed on congenital heart defects and their management through interventional catheterization and cardiac surgery. The event also aimed to review complex clinical cases and complications to enhance shared medical understanding and best practices.

Activity Report:
The Second Conference on Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery was held in Qamishlo on September 16, 2022, organized by the Rojava Doctors’ Union in coordination with the Autonomous Administration. The conference brought together a wide range of cardiologists and cardiac surgeons working across northern and northeastern Syria.
Key topics addressed during the conference included:
Congenital heart diseases and current treatment modalities.
Interventional catheterization techniques in managing structural heart defects.
Advanced cardiac surgeries as either complementary or alternative therapeutic options.
A dedicated clinical session highlighting real-world complications and post-operative care challenges, with open discussion on protocols, experiences, and case management strategies.
This event represented a continuation of the Union’s commitment to advancing medical specialization and creating a scientific platform for knowledge exchange among healthcare professionals working under challenging conditions. It contributed significantly to improving the quality of cardiac care and strengthening the health system in the region.

- Scientific Day on Recent Surgical Developments

Date: 2023-05-13

Place: Qamishlo

Objective:
To organize a professional medical forum aimed at discussing the latest advancements in surgical science and practice, with the participation of prominent surgical specialists from across Rojava. The event also served as a platform to assess the state of the healthcare system in the region and explore opportunities for development and collaboration.

Activity Report:
Under the coordination of the Rojava Doctors’ Union and in collaboration with local pharmaceutical warehouses, a scientific symposium was held in Qamishlo under the title Scientific Day on Recent Surgical Developments. The event brought together a wide range of surgical professionals and medical experts, and featured a series of focused scientific sessions covering:
General Surgery
Retinal Surgery
ENT Surgery (Otolaryngology)
In addition to the academic presentations, several real-life clinical cases were reviewed and discussed, offering valuable insights into practical surgical challenges in the region.
Key recommendations from the symposium included:
The necessity of holding regular specialized surgical conferences to foster continuous professional development.
Strengthening collaboration and communication with international medical institutions and experts.
Upgrading medical infrastructure and equipping local health centers with modern surgical technologies and diagnostic tools.
